Okay, so being a 20-Something-Year-Old... that’s what we’re talking about today.
Folks, that is one HEAVY ASS TOPIC.
As you can clearly tell by the GIF above, this shit ain't easy. Growing up as a creative and idolizing the characters I see on TV have given not only me, but many of my peers, the illusion that your 20s are easy and simple, a heap of fun with speed bumps that only last 12 minutes max. But folks, and I hate to break it to ya, that is not the truth.
You see, life isn't a movie. Life is complex, hard, difficult, and leaves us feeling all out of wack like that one episode of SpongeBob when he couldn't write his essay.
99% of the time that's just how it goes. You'll feel like everything is on fire and you're trying your best to not let the pressures and ideals of society get to you. Now, stay with me here, just because there are several moments like the above jam-packed into your 20s doesn't mean that life is bleak and everything from 20 to 30 is grim. It's actually the opposite. Because we experience so many bumps (and lengthy ones sometimes), our 20s are the most eye-opening years of our lives. Sure, you don't just randomly get approached by Zac Efron with chocolates and flowers but you get to fully discover who you are as a spiritual being. You get to make all these juicy mistakes and learn from them. You realize what you really want out of life and exactly how to obtain it.
Now, I'm not just gonna sit here and give a TED Talk because let's face it... many of you would lose interest. You want to hear the stuff I've been through, don't you? You want the spicy gossip, right? I can almost see ya'll reading this like this:
And, that is exactly why I'm here. I am here to give you the inside scoop on all of my experiences. Take a journey with me through my 20s. Let's learn and grow together. If I've learned anything from living through a couple years of my 20s , it's that somebody should've fucking made a handbook. Oh, how I wish somebody would've told me that I'd waste six months of my life trying to turn a situationship into a relationship (but more on that later).
I'll leave you with this:
Step 1 of surviving your 20s: Accept the fact that it won't be like anything you've ever seen in the movies or in the TV Shows.
Step 2 of surviving your 20s: Although stressful and confusing as hell, it just might be better than anything you've seen in the movies or on TV.
Y'all Trying to Make Sense of These Rules
